So day 1 of Sedona: We took a hike through Boynton Pass which was 6 miles, and had alot of ups and downs, so many that it got to the point that I told Ben if we went up and down again I was going to yell, and guess what happened... it went up and down again, and yes I did yell. When we got to the top, I can't even tell you how beautiful it was, and the pictures can't capture it, I'm not joking for at least a second I couldn't breath, ME?!?! And I wish I could show the full beauty to you. There was also another ridge off of the top of the Boynton Pass and it even more breath taking, but we didn't bring our cameras. After that we (Kimmie), decided that we would hike up a large rock to get to see more of the canyon. And when we got down and got to the car we all had Fiber 1’s… Yummy!!
Day 2 of Sedona: My birthday!!! We hiked a little more, this time on the trail Brins Mesa, which was a lovely hike and it had a huge rock/boulder in it that looked alot like the Sphinx. After that we took another path that was called Soldier Pass, which was also a great hike until my very observant mother spotted a ridge that allowed us to see more of the mountain, so we all started hiking straight up the mountain, which had no path. We were all cool until about 450 ft up, then I started freaking out and Ali was scared, but we had to stay on what I thought to be my death chamber for about 15 minutes before we could find a safer way down. We left a memorial to say good-bye to my fears of “Catie-Mountain” which is what Kimmie renamed Tea Cup Ridge. Then we left the hiking place and got back to the camper we were ready to have birthday cake. The cake that I had chosen was like a HUGE Boston Cream Donut, it was a Boston Cream Cake, and it was GOOD!!
Day 3 in Sedona: We had a good chill day; we packed up camp and took a shopping day to look around town and window shop and of course get stuff. And just as we are getting in our car to head toGrand Canyon, the battery dies… yes this was an UGH situation, and just then this older guy sees us in deep trouble and comes up to us and says “Hey, would you like me to jump start your car?” The people in Sedona are so nice, I mean really, every one here says “Hi”, and some people you can talk to and they’ll talk to you for a while and you feel like you knew them before you met them 3 minutes ago. I LOVE SEDONA!! :) And I’m gonna miss the warm showers at camp, but the views will definitely be worth it!
We have been driving all day and are finally at… The GRAND CANYON!!! Yes the rocks are beautiful, yes the stars are many but pictures cannot capture what I see and I am sad to say it. Our first views of the Canyon were the sun setting over the rocks…the colors were incredible! Our next adventure: the camp site. For starters we got to Grand Canyon a day early but we didn’t notice until we looked at a sheet of paper that said who the camp was reserved for, and the sheet didn’t have our name on it. So we had to park our trailer in an RV lot, which looked like it was created 80 years ago. In the morning we left the OLD RV lot and set up camp at the place we had reserved for today, not last night… haha
